Artwork: Spring Skull Mixed Media Collage

I have been a Wayne Brezinka fan for a while. In the spring of 2018 I took a Brezinka collage workshop (shoutout to my MIL for making that possible!), had an amazing time, and learned some tricks for successful collaging.

In the spring of 2019 I got this vision of a skull with flowers for eyes (thanks in part to the poster I have in my bathroom, I’m sure), made out of book pages. I had some foil paper and glitter paper (left over from my 2017 wedding) and decided to apply bling in select places. Then I decided I needed a bee somewhere — in the mouth or on an eye-flower. On the eye-flower edged out mouth in an Insta poll, so I photographed the bee in the mouth thoroughly before I glued the bee to the flower-eye permanently.

The original version hangs in my house, and I sell two versions of a greeting card and photo print based on the collage.
